Summer vacation is around the corner, and children’s theater productions, musicals, and museum exhibitions are all waiting in the wings. No matter your age, there is something sure to entertain you happening this summer in Hainan!
Hainan Theater for the Performing Arts
The Hainan Performing Arts Group International Children’s Theater Exhibition presents five excellent plays at the Hainan Theater for the Performing Arts this summer.
‘A Voyage to Lilliput & Brobdingnag’ will be performed on July 29, followed by ‘The Little Match Girl’ on July 30th.
The brand new experiential family play ‘Boonie Bears: Blast Into the Past’ will take the stage at the Hainan Theater for the Performing Arts on Aug. 5, and the cartoon musical concert ‘Kikujiro’ is scheduled for Aug. 12.
A live-action dino-themed musical called ‘Love You Forever’ will charm the whole family on Sept. 9th.

Haikou Bay Performance Center
The Haikou Bay Performing Arts Center is launching a series called ‘Opening the Door to Art’, with 10 excellent children’s dramas on the schedule between July 5 and Aug. 11, including the magical stories of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘The Ugly Duckling’, and ‘Hello Kitty’s Super Adventure Journey to the West’.

Hainan Museum
During the summer holiday, the Hainan Museum is hosting three temporary exhibitions, one on precious woods such as Hainan yellow rosewood and agarwood, one on ancient glass art of the silk road, and one on cultural relics acquired by the Hainan Museum.
The museum will also put on four Hainan cultural heritage exhibitions on the topics of traditional handicrafts, food culture, minority intangible cultural heritage, and the performing arts.

Haikou Museum
Not to be outdone, the Haikou Museum is also holding three major exhibitions during the summer vacation.
The first showcases exquisitely carved wooden items from different periods, while the second is a joint exhibition of Chinese and Indian oil paintings and sculptures titled ‘Encounter Beauty’. This exhibition includes 18 oil paintings in the Ice and Snow series by Hu Tianxiao, a well regarded Chinese painter and 26 sculptures by Indian artists.
The third exhibition focuses on Haikou’s long history and cultural relics, with the aim of getting more people involved in protecting these irreplaceable treasures.
