From February 18th to the 20th, a delegation from the Haikou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone—one of the eleven key industrial parks in south China’s Hainan Free Trade Port—conducted business exchanges with key enterprises in Thailand.

At the economic cooperation promotion conference held jointly by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Sub-council and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce on the 19th, a 10 million-dollar deal on recreational fishing and seafood processing was made between Hainan’s Dongpinyun Technology Co., Ltd.—an enterprise based in the park—and Thai Pacific Fish Processing (Limited) Company.

The delegation also paid a visit to the TCP Group, a well-known Thai beverage production firm, to facilitate the implementation of potential cooperation projects in the Haikou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.

Thailand is one of the ten member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). With an intertwined cultural history dating back centuries, Hainan and Thailand have an extensive recent history of fruitful exchanges and cooperation (especially in energy, tourism, agriculture). Last year saw the bilateral trade value between the two places totaled 520 million US dollars for a year-on-year increase of 92%.

According to the Haikou National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Thailand is the first stop of their year-long series of planned overseas investment promotion activities. Looking forward to further boosting the high-quality development of the park, they intend to have more business exchanges in Germany, Switzerland, America, and other countries.
